| i was afk during the time guild items were made so i dont know the reason why. but.
i always wondered why guild items blocked a real slot, which race items didnt
suggestion. made race and guild items a "new" slot. so an elf warrior would have an ear and say nose-guard item. an elf woodsman would have an ear and a finger protector thing for archers.
you get the point. this way everyone would get an "additional" slot (ie their old guild slot). so a warrior would gain belt slot. yes a mini uptune but to even it out why could just nuke all players with a C in their name

In terms of balance and equal opportunity (plus creativity & flexibility of items) this would certainly offer the most equitable move and wouldn't deem certain gear 'worthless' to a particular guild or another.
It wouldn't stop more than a select few eq's from being in the 'top set' lists, and even left untuned, the additional slot wouldn't exactly offer a big bump (considering the bump any 1 additional piece of gear can bring), but it would require the biggest effort re: backend code (with the least overall change).
I like the concept of coders not being tied to guild slot barriers when creating gear too. And I remain a fan of balance but in this regard it's hard to argue that having 1 slot open up will be a huge uptune (especially when gear slots have been coded around certain guild itemslots to begin with).

not a mini uptune at all. more like a massive uptune.. most guild items as they stand are BETTER than those that you could put in their place. generally speaking, I don't really know of any other items that add roughly +50 for 3 types of stats then around 5-8% for 5 orso skills other than guild items. The reason that they were placed on specific slots was simply because they were overpowered, and thus, the drawback was to take up an already existing slot to counterbalance it. |

Wouldn't it solve the perceived inconsistency just as much to make race items a "real" slot?

| i actually sort of like the idea of guild items not being a guild slot, but double-slot guild items (witch, necro, druid) would have to be downtuned.
i don't think it would be a massive uptune, tbh. the guild slots that have double power would be halved, and beyond that it'd just be the addition of 1 super slot item.

| also, i tend to think the limit of slots is silly. |

| I have to say that I love my broom. We've been together a long time. Yes it takes 2 slots, but the stats are awesome. In addition, if you make my broom a non-slot item, what the hell would I do with it? Carry it in my back pocket while I wield two staves? Seriously? Do I just lean it up against a tree when I walk into the room? The thing is like a security blanket, it's in my hands everywhere I go and I think it should stay that way.
Summary:
My broom is god and I loves it and if it changes I'll murder people. |

| tbh, there are a lot of things in the game that you use without wielding that require being held in your hands logically.
i'm not saying that this should be a change, i'm just pointing out that it is feasible. |
