EQ Party Dicing | Tue Aug 2 11:57:48 2022 MST |
| Hi all - Just posting this to ensure everyone has the same information about the altered EQ dicing rules I would like to keep using. Below are the current rules, and there is an active poll in place for people to vote on a change which is also explained below.
Status Quo (poll option 1): Before each party, a kill list is decided on and each participant can select one item from the collective potential drops as their "preferred" item. The list of preferred items is available to view and changes can be made up until the first mob dies at which point the list locks. You are not required to select a preferred item.
At the end of the party, any drops that were selected as preferred are separately diced using the manual "dice 100" command by everyone who flagged the item. Everyone who receives their preferred item forfeits their first two dice slots (down AND up in the first round). Everyone who either did not specify a preferred item OR did not win the dice for a contested preferred item will dice the remaining drops normally in the first round. All participants will select from remaining items for any subsequent redice rounds.
Potential Change (poll option 2): I am considering a change to allow for people to flag two items in ranked preference order. In this scenario, we would have a round of separate manual dices for each rank 1 item followed by dices for each rank 2 item. Those who win a dice for their rank 1 item would not be eligible to dice on their rank 2 item and would also forfeit their first round dices. Anyone winning a rank 2 item would forfeit their first round dices. Because this is a ranked system, if an item is rank 1 for any participants, then there is no chance for it to fall to a rank 2 selection (this should eliminate some rank 1 to rank 2 overlap). All others would dice normally.
You can view the poll by typing "poll list 1" in game or in the Game Info tab on the IoM site. Would love to get a better idea of preferences before making a decision for future parties. Either way, the goal is to help people get the gear they actually want/need vs feeling like they just have to dice the most valuable piece because they got lucky with a top dice slot. Some items will have more competition as many people will flag them, but I don't think that is any different than a normal party.
I hope to keep running 2hr parties semi-regularly with possible longer parties sprinkled in. If you're interested in joining I'll be keeping my plan up to date with next runs and open slots. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!
